Overview
The 2 in. AFB is ROCKWOOL's most common acoustical fire batt for commercial steel-stud partitions. Batts are 24 in. x 48 in., 12 per bag, covering 96 sq. ft. At 2 in. the batt has an NRC of 0.95, which is why it is specified in most 1-hour and 2-hour rated partition assemblies.
It is unfaced, semi-rigid stone wool that friction-fits between studs 24 in. on center. It is non-combustible, withstands 2150 F, repels water and does not support mold. It is normally combined with gypsum board layers and resilient channel to reach the target STC.
