Comfortboard 80 in the 4 ft. x 8 ft. sheet is a 1-1/4 in. thick rigid stone wool board rated R-5.25. Each board covers 32 sq. ft. ROCKWOOL sells this size by the full pallet (32 boards, 1,024 sq. ft.); it is not bagged in small bundles like the 24 in. x 48 in. boards.
The board is used as non-structural exterior sheathing for continuous insulation, behind stucco and other claddings, on basement walls and foundation perimeters, and under slabs. It is non-combustible, vapor permeable so the wall can dry outward, water repellent, and dense enough (8 lb/ft3) to hold fasteners and furring. Cuts with a serrated or bread knife.
